This page shows some impactful courses I have taken during my college career as well as descriptions of why they were important and what I learned. Additionally, some samples of my work are available.
Spanish
SPAN 3020
Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Composition

SPAN 3040
Introduction to Hispanic Literary Forms
In this course we studied hispanic literature and culture throughout history. We read excerpts from Don Quixote, watched cinema from the earlier 1900s, and analyzed the various attitudes of authors during different time periods and the historical context that influenced these beliefs.
The paper linked here is an analysis of literary
styles from the 21st century of different hispanic
writers and their styles and beliefs.
SPAN 3050
Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Composition I
In this course, I watched a few movies in Spanish and had to discuss them with a partner for at least twenty minutes. This course helped me improve my speaking abilities as there were only three other students, so I could practice speaking frequently.
SPAN 3060
Spanish Composition for Business
In this class, I learned more about the various cultures and business environments in South and Central America. Especially vocabulary that has very different meanings in different countries although Spanish is the predominant language. SPAN 3160
Spanish for International Business I
During the semester, students were assigned groups and a Spanish speaking country. Then, we had to develop a product to market to that particular country. We started by learning about the country and presenting that information to the class, then working on our product for the rest of the semester until presenting our product and business plan at the end of the semester.
This coursework is the presentation of our assigned
country - Spain. This shows the cultural information
as we researched and presented in Spanish to the class.
SPAN 4160
Spanish for International Business II
This course helped me learn far more about hispanic culture as we analyzed media from different countries every week, had case studies of different businesses, and each student had to present a comparison of hispanic versus american culture on a different topic.
This is presentation is an example of the cultural
analysis of hispanic countries versus the US
regarding their feelings on social status and how
it is obtained which was 20 minutes and done in Spanish
which demonstrated proficiency by researching the
culture and communicating those ideas in the language.
SPAN 3070

I had practice developing my Spanish grammatical skills in Barcelona. I also met students from the university of Barcelona to complete a language exchange and the reflection can be viewed using the PDF to the right. This demonstrated proficiency as
we had conversations in Spanish about high level topics like economics and politics.

This course offered a more in depth understanding of supply and demand and how price changes affect both supply and demand when they are elastic and inelastic. Additionally, to demonstrate these concepts, we often studied different cases to see how price changes had dramatic effects on consumers depending on what type of product it was.
An example of this analysis can be seen in this
assignment, as it analyzes the effect of what
taxes can do to curve the use of negative
substances depending on their demand.
